Winter Open (February 26, 2017)

Full bodied catcher with a strong lower half at 6-foot-2 210 pounds. He ran a 7.93 60 and a 4.81 home-to-1B. Offensively- Even setup with weight posted up over back leg with some pre-pitch bat waggle; short take back with the hands as stride gains some ground forward. Short slashing stroke into the zone with a cross body finish in foul territory. Lower half is aggressive and with improved extension should be able to tap into his power potential. Exit velocity was 78 MPH. Foul line to foul line results. Defensively- Compact setup; staying almost to low for his frame coming out of the shoot. Arm action straight back with some twirling action before moving forward with a low 3/4 slot. Arm strength at 66 MPH with pop times ranging 2.32-2.47. Speeding up footwork and more consistent with throwing actions will shave some time.
