Preseason - East (February 22, 2018)

Athletic build at 5-foot-11 150 pounds with room for physical gains. The RHH 3B ran a 4.44 home-to-1B. Offensively- Even setup; minimal pre-pitch movement and quiet with timing (heel lift). Balanced approach with a adequate lower half involvement; flat swing path that stays in the zone. Pull side approach with a mix of line drives and flyballs. Exit velocity up a notch to 81 MPH. Defensively- Ranges well at the hot corner; creates angles that allow him to work through the ball. Arm was 75 MPH up from past events. Actions would allow for some work at 2B/SS if need be.

ENY All-Star Games (September 17, 2017)

Slight yet athletic 5-foot-11 145 pound INF/RHP. Offensively- Spread stance with hands just off the shoulder; minimum actions for timing as hands stay still and he utilizes a heel lift. Barrel gets on plane early with an elevated two-handed finish. Mixed contact results from foul line to foul line. Defensively- Creates proper angles working through the ball with a clean transfer and release. Lower 3/4 arm slot at 73 MPH across the infield. Athletic to stay at SS, would like to see some of the arm strength harnessed on the mound carry over to the field. Pitching- Works primarily from the stretch from the glove side of the rubber. Mid-chest balance point with an elongated arm action working through a higher 3/4 slot. Repeats delivery with a strong front side. Fastball sat 75-77 MPH with some cut action. CB was 62-64 MPH with 12-to-6 shape and change up showed arm side fade at 67-68 MPH.

Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)

Jones stands in at 5-foot-11, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat out in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick knee raise into the body before striding forward while his hands move back slightly. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips and getting the whole-body frame involved in the swing. Has quick hands to the hitting zone with an upward lift barrel action throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with good gap to gap power to all fields making solid contact during batting practice rounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 80 MPH. Showed a fluid and powerful swing with potential. Defensively- Fluid approach with good footwork getting to the baseball. Shows good fielding mechanics funneling the ball into the chest and a quick transition to the throwing position. Has aggressive footwork towards intended target and is accurate with throws. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Can make the athletic play. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 71 MPH. Pitching- Sets up on the right of the rubber with a high leg raise from the stretch position. Breaks down well getting into a good throwing position. Shows good loose arm action with a mid-¾ release point and a strong follow through. Fastball range is 76-78 MPH and peaked at 79 MPH showing good arm side run. Curveball was 65-66 MPH with a sharp 12/6 break. Change-up was 70-71 MPH with arm side sink and will need more development to create greater velocity gap between fastball. Consistent strike thrower with good repeatable mechanics. Keeps ball low with good movement on pitches.
