Winter Open (February 2018)
Lopez stands in at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with an athletic frame. Ran a 8.08 – 60, shy of his personal best mark of 7.57 set both in February and June of 2017. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with a fluid trigger getting set in the hitting position. Quick hands with a slight upward barrel lift though the zone utilizing his whole body frame with good lower rotation. Demonstrated consistent contact in batting practice driving the ball to the gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH, 2 MPH better than his previous best of 76 MPH set in February 2017. Defensively- Shows a good approach and footwork to the baseball. Smooth through the ball gaining ground towards the target with an appropriate arm swing and accurate throws. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 73 MPH, 3 MPH shy of his personal best 76 MPH set in June 2017. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with a high knee raise into a good power position. Loose arm action with a low ¾ release point. Repeats mechanics well with good body control. Fastball was range was 75-76 MPH and peaked at 76 MPH was arm side run. Curveball showed tight 12/6 action and was 60-61 MPH. Change up was 67-68 MPH was good sinking action. Showed command of all three pitches and was consistently spotting in the strike zone.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Intriguing 6-foot, 160-pound athlete with an 8.03/60, has run 7.57 in past. Defensively - Fundamentally sound, with agile footwork, soft hands, smooth transfer with pinpoint accuracy at 76 MPH, poised and confident, effortless. Could work on being more assertive in getting rid of the ball. Offensively - Upright stance, keeps hands back, inner knee rotation, short to contact; keeps bat on level path through the zone with full extension and slight upper cut after contact, consistent barrel contact with an exit velocity of  71 MPH (personal best is 76 MPH). Pitching - Loose and clean arm action, uses height to get downward plane on fastball with movement at 71-72 MPH, curveball at 60-61 MPH is deceptive, induces weak contact, confident with change-up at 66-67 MPH, untapped potential. Decent action on all offerings, room for velocity growth.

June 7, 2017

Preseason All-State (February 20th, 2017)

Lopez checks in at 6-foot, 160 pounds. Had a 60 yard dash time of 7.57 seconds. Offensively- Begins with feet slightly wider than shoulder width and knees slightly bent with an even stance. Uses a small leg kick as hands load backwards slightly. Hands stay close to body before extending through contact. Flat swing plane. Aggressive lower half has a low, one handed finish. Had an exit velocity of 76 MPH. Defensively- Approaches the ball with short, choppy steps. Fields ball with feet wide and a lot of bend at the knees. Fields ball well out in front of body. Gets rid of ball quickly off of one shuffle. Some pushing action into his throws, will need to improve arm to stay on left side of the infield. Pitching- Center rubber pivot up to a compact mid chest balance point. Even stride into his landing with a low 3/4 arm slot; flashed a sharp late action CB.
