Offensviely he uses a slightly open stance, barrel is free and easy through the contact zone, produces above average bat-speed, 92 mph bat-speed, ball jumps to both gaps with no effort.  Pitching - Strong durable frame with wide shoulders and a proportional build. Moves with easy body control and exceptional balance in everything he does. His actions on the mound are simple and effortless. He keeps everything under control with good tempo and accelerates through his release point late. Works from a 3/4 arm slot that creates good arm-side run on his FB. The movement is consistent when he works down in the zone and it gets on hitters quickly. The CB has good velo and hard break into the zone. He tunnels it like his FB and doesn't create any hump or early shape. Showed the feel to throw it for a strike but also expand the zone with it. Overall the pitchability is very advanced for his age. 5/15/18

5-foot-11 right-hander with impressive skill set. Disciplined approach with notable plate plate coverage, strong hands, quick to the ball with head down, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone with slight upper-cut, makes consistent barrel contact, gap-to-gap power, strong hands. On the mound; clean arm action out of a ¾ slot, effortless, gets downward plane on fastball, induces weak contact, compact delivery. Defensively, sure glove with above average arm across the infield, capable of taking away hits down the line with his back hand and delivering accurate throws to first.

2/19/18

Ziehl stands 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with a strong build. He ran a 7.36. Offensively- At the plate he uses a slightly open stance, relaxed setup, light toe-tap and load for timing. Slight stride on the pitch with a loose repeatable swing path, strong with above average bat-speed (90 MPH exit velocity). Defensively- Stays behind the ball, fields slightly deep with a choppy lower half. Arm peaked at 81 MPH across the diamond with minimal effort. Pitching- On the mound he was very impressive. Mechanics are fluid with tempo, uses a high leg lift with power-line direction towards home. Arm swing is back and fluid, full extension out in front releasing from a high 3/4 slot. Fastball ranged 82-86, peaking 87 MPH one time with downward angle at times. Curveball sat in the upper 60's with true spin and feel for the strike zone, 11/5 shape. Overall, Ziehl looks to be one of the top 2021 graduates in the state off the mound.

9/24/17

Ziehl is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound corner infielder and RHP with a solid athletic body type. Offensively – Ziehl starts in an upright, open stance with slight knee bend. His hands are high prior to the pitch and in a relaxed starting position. Upon the pitch, Ziehl strides back to center with a low swinging leg lift and a slight bat wiggle to get his hands back into an upright position. Ziehl has powerful hip rotation at the point of contact, full extension swing path, and keeps his hands inside the ball. His bat plane is level with solid contact to all fields. He has high-two hands follow through and stays balanced through contact. Ziehl has an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Defensively – Ziehl is active as a fielder, smooth footwork and skillful with his technique. He stays on the balls of his feet as he fields and moves well towards his intended target. Ziehl has soft hands and gathers the ball out-in-front with a quick transition to his throwing motion. He has a quick low-mid ¾ arm action and is accurate with his throws. Ziehl has an arm velocity of 75 MPH from his position. Pitching – Ziehl only throws from the stretch. Uses a small leg lift to gain momentum down the mound, long arm take away, stays in line with target, and uses front side. Finishes in a balanced fielding position after pitch, brings glove hand into chest, and has good ¾ arm action. Ziehl shows active arm whip with a peak FB of 80 MPH to both sides of the plate. His fastball gets on hitters quick and has downward action in the zone. He sits 79-80 MPH FB, 74-75 MPH Changeup with a tight 68-70 MPH Slider. His slider has sharp, late downward action. ZIehl has true ability and potential as a prospect.
