Last Chance Preview (November 18, 2017)
Torres is a 5-foot-11, 175 pound SS/3B. He ran a 7.46 60. Offensively - Switch hitter, sets up with a wide stance, feet squared in the box.  Utilizes a slight leg kick in the load phase of swing.  Exit velocity from the right side was 82 MPH, from the left side 81 MPH.  Has shown some power potential, continued work on staying back at launch position will create consistent barrel contact. Defensively - Showed good footwork and soft hands attacking ball, continued movement toward the ball will help create quicker ball release.  Infield velocity 76 MPH.
Big Apple Preview (October 15, 2017)
Torres is a 5-foot-11, 175 pound SS/RHP.  He ran an 8.04 60. Offensively - Switch hitter with a wide squared up stance. Utilizes a no stride approach from both sides of the plate. Makes hard contact and displays some power potential from both sides of the plate. Exit velocity 77 MPH from the right side and 78 MPH from the left side off a tee.  Defensively - Good footwork and soft hands toward the ball.  Throws from a variety of angles, able to make throws on the run.  Projects as a 3B on the next level as he continues to mature. Pitching- Sets up on the 1B side of the rubber with an over the top delivery.  Good control of all three pitches.  FB 71-73 MPH with curveball 62-64 MPH; late breaking with 12 to 6 action. Changeup controlled low in the zone with late downward movement. Overall velocity down some from last event.
Downstate Fall Preview (October 2, 2016)

Torres, a switch-hitting 2019 shortstop/pitcher, stands at 5-foot-11 and  weighs in at 155 pounds, ran a 8.13 60. Offensively- From the right-side, starts with a base of feet shoulder width apart weight evenly centered and the hands above the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat almost parallel to the ground. Gets to the launch phase with a short rocking movement to the back leg, while the hands get straight back off the back shoulder, the barrel of the bat goes from parallel to almost completely straight up and down. Showed the ability to drive the ball to the pull side during BP. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH from the right-side. From the left-side begins with slight open crouched stance with the weight shifted slightly on the back side. Hands are above the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat almost parallel to the ground. Uses a shift to the back leg with a slight movement to close the front foot with minimal distance going towards the pitcher while the hands are loaded straight off the back shoulder and barrel of the bat slightly wrapped behind the head. Also showed the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. Registered an exit velocity of 73 MPH from the left-side. Defensively-  Used pre-pitch movement to create momentum. Showed athletic fluid movements to the ball, however fielded the ball with the right foot our in front of the left foot causing the ball to get a bit deeper. Funnels the ball to the chest transfers from the using a crossover step with the right foot towards the target. Showed good arm strength registering a velocity of 73 MPH from the shortstop position.Throws showed accuracy and carry from the deep in the hole.  Pitching- Starts from the center of the rubber with the body turned towards the third base side hands are held belt high. Gets to the gathered position of the delivery by taking an abbreviated side step towards the first base side while the leg kick gets waist high and hand elevate to shoulder height. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with some funk throwing the glove up creating a bit of deception for the hitter. Fastball topped out at 79 MPH with some arm side sink. Worked both sides of the plate during the scrimmage with the fastball. Showed two types of curveballs during the live scrimmage; a "get me over" CB with loose 12-to-6 break and a more tightly rotating with 11-to-5 action at  60 MPH.
