New England Procase
6-foot-175-pound, average athletic frame. Well proportioned, with strength. A right-handed pitcher, working from the set position, builds momentum down the mound, very quick. The arm action is short and clean on the backside, coming through from a 3/4 slot. The direction is inline, having minimal pull with front side. The fastball sat in the 88-90 mph range, with heavy down sink to it. Throwing a hard hook at 72-75 mph, a swing in miss offering. Showed feel for the changeup at 78-82 mph. Is super aggressive, should log serious innings at the college level.
ENY ASG (September 15, 2018)
5-foot-8, 155-pounds. Ran a 7.72 60 Yard Dash. Pitching - Loose, fluid throwing actions with an athletic delivery. Gets down the slope with a quick tempo while maintaining body control. Slight shoulder tilt at hand break.Clean, projectable arm action. 3/4 release point. Aggressive finish with full rotation around front hip. FB sat 79-80 MPH and topped at 81 MPH. Also mixed in an 11/5 CB at 67-69 MPH and CH at 68-70 MPH. Keeps everything around the zone and projects to have a quality 3-pitch mix.
Preseason - East (February 22, 2018)
Laurer stands 5 feet 7 inches, 140-pounds. Small lean build to him with room to develop as a member of the 2020 graduating class. RHP. Pitching- From the stretch he sets up in the middle of the mound. Has a quick and tight leg tuck to the chest, tilting full body on the back leg. Gets full extension to the plate with explosiveness. Has a slight ¾ arm slot. Finishes in an athletic position. Fastball has visible run to it, sitting 76-77 MPH. Curveball has a tight break to it through the strike zone. Curveball was 65-66 MPH. Change up has average downward action and breaks late. Mixes the offspeed pitches up well. Change was sitting 68-69 MPH.
