Athletic frame with wiry build. 5-foot-7, 150-pounds. Offensively – Wide, slightly open stance with athletic posture. Closes off front side with a toe tap before taking short forward stride to initiate swing. Flashed consistent barrel control with a short, compact swing. Hands stayed inside of the ball and produced line-drive contact during BP. Keeps head still and remains balanced through contact and into his finish. Defensively – Short, choppy steps in the OF when approaching the ball or moving laterally. Keeps head down and fields ball out in front. Bends at the waist to keep upper body stacked over glove hand. Uses an inside shuffle step to get momentum behind throws. Clean arm action with ¾ release point.

Battaglia stands in at 5-foot-6, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside his shoulders. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso. Holds the bat just above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick and simple step forward while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Has quick hands into the hitting zone with level barrel action throughout into a high two-handed finish. Utilizes good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in swing. Shows a smooth swing demonstrated in his batting practice round with line drive potential. Recorded an exit velocity of 70 MPH, a 9 MPH improvement from August 2017. Defensively- Moves well to the baseball. Could use more of a crow hop to gain momentum on the throw. Good outfielder arm swing but could throw downhill more towards target. Recorded a positional arm velocity as an outfielder of 65 MPH, 3 MPH shy of his previous best recorded mark of 68 MPH set in August 2017.

Campus Series-Oswego (August 15, 2017)

Battaglia stands a slender 5-foot-6, 145-pounds.  Offensively- Even setup to a slightly closed stance on the stride. Short path to the ball, level barrel through the zone, full extension, smooth swing. Exit velocity was 61 MPH. Defensively- Stays behind the ball, quick hand to glove transfer, back and long arm-action, high ¾ slot, 68 MPH arm-strength to the bag.
