Lopez stands in at 6-foot-0, 182 pounds with a strong athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with a wide and open stance; feet outside shoulders. Bat starts in front of the back shoulder using some pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise into a stride forward squaring up with the pitcher while his hands move back slightly to get into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing his hips and getting whole body frame involved in the swing. Shows quick hands to the zone with an upward lift bat path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Tends to break down on the back side and can improve power by eliminating; exit velocity of 82 MPH. Defensively- Active approach and footwork towards the baseball. Fielding mechanics are clean with a quick funnel into the chest and appropriate transition into the throwing position. Has choppy footwork towards intended target and made accurate throws with a short infielder arm swing. Moves well laterally and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 71 MPH. Possible transition to 2B if arm stays in this range.
