The #1 ranked catcher in New York (13th overall in the state) was well respected throughout the game vs. James Monroe as the highly athletic opponents attempted one stolen base on a breaking ball (successful). Throws are clean and online with an effortless release. At the plate the slightly built RHH showed good zone awareness working two walks early on, getting a bloop single and a hard hit flyout to center in his last two ABs.

Area Code Workout (Summer 2015)

Advanced, big arm behind the plate with accuracy. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash, but shows high-end athleticism behind the plate. Pop-Times were 1.84-1.90, but cheating a bit. Not surprised if it’s a consistent 1.95 game pop. The bat was just ok this summer but recently has shown signs of a more consistent swing. More of a late bloomer out of the NYC area, Chavez has recently committed to Michigan (Big 10 Conference) .
