New  York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Stands 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with a long lean frame that is likely to fill out quickly as he attacks the weight room. The switch hitter was one of the premier bats in the New  York Games showing gap power to all fields from both sides of the plate.  Offensively- Sets up relaxed with low hands, loads with consistent rhythm creating separation from his lower half and generates great bat speed from both sides of the plate. Exit speed was up to 94-mph from the left and 92-mph from the right. Ran a 7.1 60-yard dash and threw it 78-mph from the outfield. Defensively- Showed good fundamentals in the outfield, though new to the position as he's played a lot of infield throughout his early career. Likely projecting at one of the corners or first base at the next level.

Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Steffan stands 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with a lean athletic build that is only going to get stronger with more time with the weights. Steffan shows all kinds of next level projectability both in the field and at the plate. The true switch hitting middle guy has exit velocities in the 90-mph-94-mph range from both sides of the plate and good actions in the field. Offensively- Sets up tall and relaxed with a repeatable load. Consistently hit hard line drives to the gaps from both sides. Defensively- Michael showed good hands and athletic footwork up the middle. Arm strength was 78-mph across the diamond. With his frame and athletic ability Steffan should be one of the top 2017's to watch this spring as he could play most places on the field at the college level.
WNY Pro Holiday Clinic (December 19, 2015)
This is one of the higher end athletes we’ve seen in the state so far.  The true switch hitting middle guy stands 6’2 165 pounds with a lot of room for growth. Not only did he run a 4.1 home to first but also showed consistent bat speed with an 84 mph exit speed from both sides. Offensively- From the right side he starts tall with hands a little higher than we’d like to see but still manages to consistently barrel balls up.  He uses a minimal stride from both sides.  From the left, his hands are slightly more relaxed and seem to create a more direct path through the zone.  Defensively- In the field Steffan showed good understanding of middle infield fundamentals working through the ball nicely.  Occasionally he’d get a little too tall on throws where we’d like to see him stay through harder.  Overall this will be a top end player to watch come spring.  His projectable frame, switch hitting ability, and natural tools make him intriguing to many scouts.
