Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Western NY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)
Wiry, lean frame for the 6-foot-2 165 pounds RHP. Pitching- Sets up extreme left side of the rubber; slight side step up to a mid chest balance point. Arm action is long and works through a 3/4 arm slot. Stays closed into landing with some slight spinoff to the 1B line. Works down in the zone with his FB sitting 77-81 MPH. CB featured 11-to-5 feel with some late bite at 68-69 MPH. Change up a bit firm at 74-75 MPH. Projectable frame with a feel for his secondary stuff.
Campus Series-Canisius College (July 5, 2017)
McCann stands in at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds with a tall, athletic frame. Ran a 4.48 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet shoulder width apart. Stands with a vertical body with his hands in front of his chest showing little pre-pitch bat movement. Utilizes good lower body rotation getting his whole-body frame involved in the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with a level bat path throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage and line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 83 MPH. Defensively- Good approach to the baseball. Footwork could be quicker to go get the baseball. Fielding mechanics are smooth with a good funnel into the chest and transition into the throwing position. Could be quicker on release across the diamond. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 77 MPH. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with loose arm action and set in a good throwing position when the front foot hits. Gets good lower body engagement utilizing the whole-body frame throughout the whole pitching delivery. Fastball range was 79-81 MPH peaking at 81 MPH with good arm side run. Curveball showed tight 12/6 action and was 62-67 MPH. Also featured a change-up with a 69-70 MPH range that still needs work but has good arm side sink. Overall a strong collegiate prospect in the 2019 grad class.
New York Games  (July 2015)
McCann has a lean athletic body build.  Mat has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft hands, throws with a high 3/4 arm slot, plays through the ball nicely and has accuracy on the target.  At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, long stride, with a long back load.  He is long over the plate, swinging with mid-section finish through the ball.
