Comments
Stands 6-foot-3, 207-pounds with a thick strong frame. Ran an 8.12 60-yard dash. Offensively- Uses a small toe tap during load, starts with bat loose in front of his face before loading back slightly. Drive the lower half through and uses a two hand finish. With a big strong frame and natural bat speed he'll continue to increase power at the plate.Exit velocity was 92 MPH. Defensively- Shows good footwork and transfer at first base. Was 76 MPH across the diamond to 3B. Pitching- FB was 78-80 MPH with a 61-66 MPH CB. Uses an up tempo delivery and repeats well in line. Could see some velocity gains in the off season with a projectable body.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Cyrus brings a large-build standing 6-foot-3, 235-pounds. Offensively - Wide stance, balanced throughout his setup. On the pitch slight leg-lift with a small stride, hands load back/up before attacking the ball from a short path. Initial hand path is downward, barrel flattens out through the contact zone, displays pull-side power (91 mph exit speed) with considerable balance through his swing. Defensively- stays behind ball with a large base, adequate footwork and transfer. Pitching - Cyrus shows a powerful thick lower half from the mound, with reliever projection. Simple delivery with a belt-high leg lift. Low effort arm, clean, from a high-3/4 slot, fastball topped 81 MPH, sitting 78-80 slight arm-side run. Change up hovers the 67-68 mark staying on one plane. He throws a knuckle-curveball that shows some late action when he gets out in front, 12/6 bite sitting 69-70. Mechanically he needs to work on a longer stride allowing himself to get a more extended finish.
