Call to the Hall (July 24, 2018)
Average, proportional frame at 5-foot-11 170 pounds. The 3B/2B tied his personal best in the 60 running a 7.22. Offensively- Slightly open setup with a bit of a lean over the plate; hangs his stride with a short load and barrel tip to the mound. Short, explosive stroke into the zone with some big time acceleration. Boasted the top raw exit velocity at 99 MPH off the tee; can pound both gaps, doesn't get cheated. Defensively- Active feet, bounce in his step, breaks down into a low field position, hands occasionally get under the body. Arm strength up to 83 MPH across the diamond. Projection of offensive 2B still holds true but arm strength can now include 3B at the next level.
East-West Battle (July 2017)
Above average bat speed; open setup and stays through contact. Run producer approach; comfortable at 2B and 3B.
ProCase (June 26, 2017)
Selinger checks in at 5-foot-11 170 pounds with a strong/explosive lower half. Has improved his foot-speed to a respectable 7.22/60. Offensively- Sets up narrow and open; closes up on stride with a slight barrel tip on his take back. Ultra aggressive lower half with acceleration through the zone; elongated one-handed finish. 94 MPH exit velocity with the wood. Middle of the order projection/run producer at the next level. Defensively- Active, balls of his feet approach. Good bounce in his step. Will provide range at 3B but also athletic enough to be a 2B at the higher levels. Clean with the glove and release; serviceable arm at 81 MPH across the diamond. Continues to improve each time out.
NY Open (February 26, 2017)
5-foot-11 175 pound infielder with high end offensive capabilities. He ran 7.78 60 and a 4.37 home-to-1B. Offensively- Open setup with hands tight to the body; uses leg kick to start timing with a late barrel tip towards the mound. Explosive lower half with a short. direct path to contact that maintains acceleration through the zone. Line drive to gap results with some juice to his pull side gap. Repeats efforts; impressive 95 MPH exit velocity (just shy of personal best of 97 MPH). Defensively-  Worked out at SS, looked more active with feet and fluid with his defensive actions. Projects well as 3B/2B combination who will swing the bat. Hangs back gloves side leg with hands out in front, hands break across the belt line with a glove-tap before release from a 3/4 slot. Arm strength continues to improve as he is now 81 MPH across the diamond. Fordham recruit.
12/4/16
Fordham Recruit- 5-foot-10, 175-pound, strong, thick, well proportioned athlete. The hands and wrists have strength and quickness to them. Offensively- A right-handed hitter, racked up a tee exit velocity of 97 MPH the swing has serious whip and quickness. The stance is open, gets back to even with the stride. The bat starts in a good position, flat on the back shoulder. The swing is down to up, could stay through it a little longer and finishes it off with a one handed finish. The approach is gap to gap, stays in the middle of the field, squared the ball up one after another. The barrel has whip and life to it. Ran a 7.47. Defensively- shows soft hands, attacked the baseball under control and keeps his feet moving throughout. The backhand was made with ease, stayed low and came through it. The arm was clocked at 78 mph, had life and carry to it. Worked out from behind the plate, setup is simple and balanced, tries to be super quick, needs to let everything work. The arm was clocked at 72 mph, hands look to be strong when receiving. Projects as a power hitting second baseman, with ability to help from behind the plate.
NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Selinger stands in at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds with a strong athletic frame. Ran a 7.5 – 60, an improvement from 7.88 at the NY State Open ID in January 2016. Offensively- Sets up in an open stance slightly bent with his hands in front of his back shoulder. On pitch his trigger is a knee raise into a stride landing square at the pitcher with his hands moving back into a good hitting position. Hands are very quick to the hitting zone with good bat action throughout to a high two handed finish. Good rotation on the bottom half. Very smooth fluid swing getting his total body into the movement. Bat path through the hitting zone projects good power numbers in the future. Recorded an exit velocity of 92 MPH, a 4 mph improvement from January 2016.
NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
Zachary is a compact 5-foot-9 165 pound 2B/3B who ran a 7.88 60 and a 4.45 home-to-1B. Offensively- Zachary sets up slightly open with a slight wrap of the barrel. Aggressive lower half and explodes through the ball with a purpose. Exit velocity of 88 MPH indicates some next level life. Short and compact stroke with high finish. Defensively- Zachary shows active feet and good angles into the ball. Ranges well laterally with an adequate exchange into his release. Flashes middle infield capabilities but may fit long term projection at 3B. Arm strength plays well at a respectable 75 MPH. Demonstrates a feel for the game with the potential to be a high end player over the long term.
CT College Prospect Showcase (December 12, 2015)
A right-handed hitting middle infielder who had a very good workout. Projects out to be a power hitting second baseman. Offensively- At the plate, he hits with wide open stance, the bat is set at shoulder height with a good angle. The hands get back and gains ground with stride, produces good pop with weight transfer. The path is level to the ball with a high one-handed finish, needs to keep head still has some movement to it. The ball jumps off the bat, shows plus pop to pull side, looks to yank it a bit. The tee exit velocity was 83 mph, hands and wrists are very strong. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Defensively- In the field, he showed soft hands, with good mechanics on everything. The arm works well, it's clean with no hesitation at all. The arm strength was 75 mph across the diamond. Bat speed, arm strength are advanced for his age, needs to get quicker, this should improve as the body matures. Has some feel to the game.
