2/9/17 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect. The righty continues to impress this winter on the mound. Tempo smooth and delivery requires some effort. Uses long back arm action and works from an over the top slot. Arm action is clean with above average arm speed. Ball comes out of his hand well, with his fastball sitting 83-85 mph. His best secondary offering was his 11/5 shaped breaking ball at 67-69 mph. The pitch was sharp with depth, while consistently being in the zone. Slows his arm a bit on his 69-73 mph changeup. Only showed the offering a few times but was consistently in the zone with the pitch. A fluid swinger from the left side. Lower half is efficient and bat speed is above average. Path is level and he consistently found the barrel in batting practice. Ball came off his bat well in batting practice, showing gap to gap pop. In the infield showed fluid footwork and does a nice job of playing low. Looked confident while playing outside of his funnel. Projects more on the mound at this stage but has tools that make him attractive as a position player.
6/15/16 5-foot-10, 175-pound thinner, projectable body frame. On the mound he has a slower paced wind up to start with then picks it up as he sweeps his leg back, getting good hip torque and explodes forward. He uses regular, to some effort required to his delivery. His windup is very similar to Tim Lincecum. Lands in a straight line at foot strike, and finishes with his momentum carrying toward home plate. He has a little bit of stab in the back, and throws using quick arm speed, through an upper ¾ slot. His fastball was consistently at 82-84 mph. His curveball has good depth, with sharp break at an 11/5 plane between 69-71 mph. He throws his changeup using fastball arm speed, with good sinking action at 73-74 mph.
