2/11/18

Brian Hama (Brunswick HS) made his PBR debut at the Preseason All-State. The Sinclair CC recruit stood out with his glove up the middle. Hama has the look of a guy who can play the shortstop position at the college level. His first step is quick and he shows impressive range to both sides. His glove works with an in and out funnel while showing the ability to throw on the run from multiple arm angles. His arm already plays as an above average tool and is enhanced by his very quick transfer. Offensively he showed a line drive swing from the right side. There is room to grow with the hit tool but definitely has some twitch and feel in there. Should only get better as he takes advantage of a college weight program.

60-yard Dash: 6.96

Infield Velocity: 86

Exit Velocity: 90

9/29/19
Body Type: 6-foot, 178-pound athletic frame with room to add.
Swing Mechanics: Easy back load to hands during knee pinch timing trigger
Hit: Compact, slightly downhill stroke to contact. Mostly stays inside himself but will turn it loose to pull side at times. Sprayed line drives through a middle to pull approach throughout his round.
Power: 96 mph tee exit velocity. Gap abilities. Much more physical than we saw last fall. Obviously has been putting time into the weight room.
Offensive Projection: Still get more of a top of the lineup vibe from him but if he keeps developing a run producer profile isn’t completely out of the question by any means.
Run: 6.94 60-yard dash.
Field: Top glove guy on the roster. Athletic actions with the constant rhythm to sequence. Advanced ball skills that he can maintain on the move. Impressive defender.
Throw: 91 mph arm strength across the diamond. Clean arm with jump out of the hand. Arm plays wherever you need it.
Defensive Projection: SS.
Additional Comments: One of the most improved guys on the Tartan roster. The glove has always been there and the other tools are starting to catch up. 60 is down, power/arm strength is up and he still profiles as a guy who has a legitimate chance to stay at the shortstop position.
