8/10/21

Another guy who rose his stock with a strong weekend. Athletic mover that swings with intent and can do damage when he catches it flush. Landed on some balls with a tape measure shot to LCF, at 100mph and flying 386 feet. Run producer profile. He showed in game that the swing translates with several loud shots, including arguably the hardest hit ball of the weekend off the CF wall. Although the bat is the top tool he also showed an improved skill set around the bag at first base as well.

2/15/21

Caden Crawford: 1B/OF, (2022) Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH. 6-foot-4, 210-pound. At the plate, Crawford was ranked 3rd with an exit velocity of 101 mph.Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a toe tap. Had an upward swing plane, electric bat speed and high finish. Solid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 79 mph; had a clean exchange, consistent footwork, and sure hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a long arm action with a low ¾ slot. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.81 60-yard dash.

7/06/20

Hit: One of the louder rounds we saw. Physical dude with a whippy stroke. Landed on balls throughout his round working in a middle to pull approach. Impressive hit tool. Dropped a no doubt bomb in BP over the LF wall.
Power: Big time raw pop.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 99 mph
Max BP Distance: 357 ft
Field: Frame and skill set play over at first base. ABove average athlete who jumps off the bag with quality lateral mobility. Ball skills are serviceable.
Throw: More than enough arm for the position.
Defensive Projection: 1B.

6/11/19

Body Type: 6-foot-2, 190-pound lengthy but physical frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Front foot goes straight to home plate instead of down and around. Doesn’t drive with back leg leaving more in the tank for lower half. Smooth arm action with feel for the mound.
Fastball: 78-83mph. Some glove side movement being in the zone consistently.
Curveball: 67-72mph. 11/5 movement with some action to it. In the zone some of the time.
Pitchability: In the zone most of the time.

Swing Mechanics: Wide base with a simple lower half with a barrel tip for rhythm.
Hit: Swing is electric for class. Physical kid with fast hands. Path is efficient and lifts the baseball naturally. Ball doesn’t look like a normal ‘22 off his bat.
Power: Consistently was 90+ off the bat in BP (Rapsodo). Offers the present ability to leave the yard.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.
Run: 4.46 H-1st.
Field: All the tools/athletic ability to grow into a solid defender.
Throw: More than enough arm for the first base position.
Defensive Projection: 1B.

2/16/19

Body Type: 6-foot-1 185-pound prospect.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ type arm slot. His arm action is a little choppy and lacks fluidity. Presently his body moves better than his arm. Would benefit from cleaning up his arm action.
Fastball: 77-79 mph fastball was mostly true with some downward fade at times.
Breaking Ball: 69-72 mph breaking ball showed minimal action.
Changeup: 72-73 mph changeup was true through the zone with high spin.
Pitchability: Average feel and command for this three pitch mix.
Role: Shows some good physical projection as a 2022. Good fastball velocity for his class. Presently his secondary offerings are both developing type pitches. Will need to refine his secondary offerings going forward to begin to get on the radar of college coaches.

Body Type: 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Taller, sturdy build.
Swing Mechanics: Hits out of a wide stance with some bend. Produces a level bat path after his load proving ability to stay on plane long with pitches. Generates energy in swing process very well for his age.
Hit: Power bat that put flight on several baseballs. Contact was solid.
Power: 93 mph exit velocity. More power presented middle-opposite field. Big bat that has more to give.
Offensive Projection: Middle of the order. Run producer.
Run: 4.44 seconds home to first.
Field: Did a nice job getting off the bag prior to turning two with his footwork. Quickness will continue to improves as his reps increase. Hands showed well for first base with glovework.
Throw: 76 mph across the diamond. Throws on target at second base too.
Defensive Projection: First base.

11/10/18

Two-way prospect with an impressive build for frame. Good athlete with physicality. On the bump the right-hander works exclusively from the stretch. Slower paced tempo to a delivery that requires some effort. Does a nice job with lower half, getting down the mound well. Ball jumps out hand with well above average velo for class. Sat 78-81 mph with late life in the zone. A bit erratic command was but the pitch is live. Complements the fastball with an 11/5 shaped breaking ball. Spins it well at 69-72 mph. Not a big bender but has depth to it. Quality offering for class. At the plate the righties advanced natural tools allow him to create impressive energy with a simple stroke. Swing has some loft to it allowing him to lift the ball natural. Ball really comes off well. The most raw power we saw per class.

60-yard dash: 7.3
Exit Velocity: 87

7/10/18

The top BP of the day belonged to Crawford. His advanced natural tools allow him to generate loud pop with a simple, low effort swing. Ball exploded off his bat in BP and game. The right-hander has the present ability to leave the yard and should have more to come as he fills out his athletic frame. Registered an exit velocity of 88 mph. Checks all the boxes at first base. Has the size and brings well above average athleticism to the spot. Well versed at the position. Solid defender. Two-way prospect. Projectability extends to the bump as well. Slow paced tempo with long, loose arm action through a high-¾ slot. Fastball was 71-75 mph and stayed mostly true through the zone. Expect that number to be higher down the road. Compliments the fastball with a sharp, 11/5 shaped breaking ball at 63-66 mph.

60-yard dash: 7.43
Infield Velocity: 71
Exit Velocity: 88

5/04/18

Really liked what I saw from Crawford at the plate. Ideal frame/skill set for the middle of the lineup. A physical bat that swings it from the right side. Starts in a wider setup and uses a simple loading sequence, incorporating a bat tip movements during his short stride for timing. Batspeed and strength are advanced for class and obvious through the zone. Path is level and swing is compact. Ball really jumps when he finds the barrel. Shows all the signs of a future run producer.
