2/3/19 Pitching

Body Type: 5-foot-8 prospect with a smaller frame.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with an efficient delivery. Arm works well with good movement patterns.

Fastball: 70-73 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone but did show some natural cut at times.

Breaking Ball: 56-60 mph breaking ball showed a slurvey shape with average spin. Shows potential to be a good pitch when thrown at a higher intensity.

Changeup: 66-68 mph changeup with good arm side run and some depth at times.

Pitchability: Good feel for his three pitch mix. Secondary offerings showed good shape and spin.

Role: Although the velocity is presently lows there’s a lot to like. Shows good movement patterns in his delivery with a smooth arm, and his secondary offerings showed good actions. He seems to have a good feel on how to shape and spin the ball. This will serve him well as he progresses physically as he develops throughout high school.

2/3/19

Body Type: 5-foot-8 prospect with a smaller frame.

Swing Mechanics: Showed a minimal load during his swing and casts his barrel around the zone. Overall, somewhat short to the ball.

Hit: Average bat to ball ability.

Power: 71 mph exit velocity.

Offensive Projection: Presently shows a somewhat limited skill set at the plate. Best approach would a standard line drive approach to all fields.

2/4/18
5-foot-6, 145 pound left-handed pitching prospect with a small build displayed clean arm action in his delivery with an even tempo. He struggled a little at times with command on all his pitches as he picked up his target late on several pitches. The times he stayed on his target, accuracy increased. Johnson’s FB was 65-66 with glove side run which will increase as he gets older. His CB sat 55-58 with good break but he left it high a few times. Just needs to work on staying on top of it and pulling it down harder to increase the spin and movement. Offensively Johnson swings from the left side with an uphill swing path. . He showed good ability to make solid contact sending several line drives back to the end of the cage. Johnson can improve his back leg by getting it for fire and create some drive into his swing which can increase his 70 mph exit velocity. At first base his glove looked good fielding it. His footwork was decent. He can improve on taking batter angels when attacking the ball to get him in a better fielding position. His arm was average throwing 65 mph across the diamond. Showed good throws to second during double play feeds.
