J.J. Ellis: 1B/RHP, (2024) Archbishop Alter, OH. 5-foot-10, 150-pound athletic long build. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then used a short stride. Had a simple swing plane, above average bat speed and level good extension on his finish. He produced some loud contact and found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. Capable in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 70 mph; had a fluid exchange, consistent hands, and average footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Showed decent accuracy to the base with a ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Solid on the mound, showed a compact consistent arm action and a ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed. Stretch only type pitcher and uses max effort. Has an athletic balance point with even shoulders. Lands open with an athletic finish. Has a heavy fastball that shows running action and some control.
