Starts in a balanced quiet stance with a controlled load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, has an upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; had soft hands, a natural exchange, and consistent footwork. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Had a quick arm action with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.83. On the mound, showed consistent arm speed, also used a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Sat with his fastball at 78-81 mph. Had running action. (Max spin 2049; Avg 1910). His 1/7 curveball (69-70) shows some action. Hit: After a standout performance on the mound he also showed well at the plate. Aggressive swinging lefty with a physical bat. Pull side approach. Some of the louder jump we saw on the day with a top exit velocity of 82mph. High follow, two-way talent. Power: Easy gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Run producer. Field: Corner frame/skills set. plays low with an uptempo pace over there. Ball skills are serviceable. Throw: Ball comes out well. Defensive Projection: Corner infield.
Scouting Notes: Definitely something here. Physical presence on the mound w/ a long, loose arm. Fastball has a higher velocity and he controls an array of secondary offerings. High follow. Fastball: Cross-fire sequence creates a tough angle for hitters to handle. Could easily see more velo down the road. Breaking Ball: Two breakers, curve/slider, both above average offerings for class that move on a similar plane. Good feel for both. Changeup: Maintains arm speed, occasional sink, quality pitch when in the zone.
