6/04/12 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Strong, bull type presence and aggressive on mound. Shows good delivery with arm extensions and balance. Arm slot comes from 3/4 slot. Needs to improve lower half hip pop in backside follow through which will enhance his velocity. Fastball ranges 84-87 mph with some run action . Shows feel for downward spin curveball at 68-70 mph.
2/18/12 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect with tall, lanky frame. Uses a low ¾ to ¾ arm slot with long, loose arm action. Shows four effective pitches. His fastball sits 82-84 mph with late run. Curveball shows slurvy type action with 11/5 late break as it registers 68-72 mph. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and sits at 76 mph with arm side run. Split-finger sits at 75 mph and shows good diving action down in the zone. Definite D1 follow (we have seen him in the mid to upper 80’s)
The tall, lanky prospect shows long and loose arm action. In each outing, he showed an 80-83 mph fastball with a 63 mph slider (this compares to his 83-86 showing on 7/20 at the Oho Top Prospect event). Johnson’s fastball showed plenty of life and sink down in the zone. While his slider needs to become more consistent, it shows hard biting 11/7 movement.
