Jayden Watkins: SS/OF, (2023) Vandalia Butler, OH. 5-foot-11, 178-pound. During batting practice, Watkins had a max exit velocity of 94 mph. (69.9 mph bat speed average). (22.8 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then uses a small leg kick. Has an upward swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his balanced finish. While in the infield, made throws up to 75 mph; had soft sure hands, a lengthy natural exchange, and athletic in control footwork. Uses his glove out front. He ran a 4.03 30 yard dash.
Jayden Watkins: SS/OF, (2023) Vandalia Butler, OH. 6-foot, 165-pound. In the box, Watkins had a max exit velocity of 90 mph. (69.33 mph bat speed average). (21.05 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick present, uses an uphill simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 74 mph; has a clean exchange, consistent developing hands, and quick feet. Solid from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 76 mph; has consistent feet, a natural exchange, and sure hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.1. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Jayden Watkins: SS/2B, (2023) Vandalia Butler, OH. 6-foot, 165-pound. Athletic at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 87 mph. (64.78 mph bat speed average). (21.26 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is above average, uses a level rotational swing plane and level finish. Found multiple barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Athletic while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 73 mph; showed athletic feet, soft hands, and a natural fluid exchange. Showed a compact arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag.
Hit: Good mover in the box with an efficient, fluid loading sequence. Launches from a balanced setup and takes an uphill path to contact. One of the top bat speed guys we saw on the day, showing upper 70mph capabilities. Up to 89mph off the bat.
Power: Gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Middle ceiling.
Field: Controlled tempo in the infield with active feet, soft hands and ball skills on par for class.
Throw: 3/4 righty with looseness to his arm.
Defensive Projection: 2B.
1/20/20 Position Player
Hit: Loose stroke from the right side. Path is level and lower half works rotationally. Found the barrel often in BP. Natural tools are on par for class.
Power: Line drive pop with potential for much more as he fills out frame.
