6/7/17 A two-way prospect in the 2018 class. Has projectability on the mound with a 6-foot-5, long limbed frame. Uses a slower paced tempo that picks up at balance point. Arm action is longer with some looseness to it. Works through a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 82-83 mph. Commands the pitch well and isn’t afraid to work in. His 10/4 shaped breaking ball was very impressive. The offering has big, sharp break at it crosses the plate at 70-72 mpg. Starts in a tall setup at the plate. Hands move back to launch during his controlled stride. Path is level and gets on plane early. Swing is efficient and he has a ton of juice in there once he fills out. Showed gap to gap pop in batting practice. An ideal frame for the first base position. Showed feel around the bag with above average athleticism. Glove works and he gets off the bag well. Projects as an above average defender. 60-yard dash: 7.31 Infield Velocity: 74 Exit Velocity: 90
1/28/17
Projectable, 6-foot-5, 190-pound, frame. Rose showed long and loose arm action and ran his fastball up to 82 mph. Secondary stuff was impressive and consistently in the zone. His breaking ball showed late break at 69-71 mph and his changeup is thrown with good arm speed at 75-76 mph. A righty swinger that stays fluid throughout his loading sequence. Uses a leg kick and well timed weight shift to create energy with his lower half. Hands stay simple and loose during stride forward. Path is slightly uphill. Flashed power potential to his pull side. Middle of the order skillset. Projects as a 3B/1B type. Would like to see him start lower. Creates angles with his footwork and generates momentum through his throws. Showed some softness in his hands. Throws from ¾ slot
Infield Velocity: 79 Home to 1st: 4.66 Exit Velocity: 90
8/2/16 6-foot-5, 180-pound projectable frame. Ran a 5.2 from home to first. At the plate he is simple mechanically and lets his advanced strength through the zone go to work. His uphill path gives him natural loft. Showed pop and power potential to pull side. Top exit velocity was 87 mph. At first base he moves light on his feet but would like to see him play lower. Ideal frame for the position. Threw across the infield with 70 mph arm strength. On the mound the righty has three pitches in his arsenal while working through a high-¾ slot. Generates efficient momentum and solid direction to home plate with his lower half. Fastball stayed straight through the zone at 76-80 mph. Breaking ball had some bite to it, with an 11/5 shape at 70-71 mph. Also mixed in a changeup that showed run at times.
