1/20/18

6-foot-2, 185-pound right handed pitcher had a good-sized frame with room to grow. Caige threw a heavy fastball with some glove-side run that sat 73-76 mph while touching 77 a few times. His mechanics looked fine for the most part, however his glove side tended to open too early. His arm also has some trouble as it was lagging which caused some accuracy issues. Malik did throw his slider very well with some late break on it while being able to locate it for strikes the majority of pitches. He can definitely take advantage of his size and use it to generate more energy out of his motion as he progress further. Frame fits the third base position. Reacts well off the bat and moves with above average lateral mobility. Plays with confidence in his glove, especially inside funnel.  A 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect who’s physicality shows in the box. Movements are smooth and well-timed prior to launch. Caige has the ability to create impressive pop without much effort two his swing. More of a line drive guy now who is a candidate to grow into a power threat as he adds loft to swing. Exit velocity was 88 mph.

6/14/17
6-foot-2, 185-pound thicker looking frame. From third base he has a tendency to stop his feet when ground balls are hit at him, and would benefit by continuing his footwork while playing through the baseball as he does when ground balls are hit to his glove side. Throws with a clean arm action through a low ¾ slot while reaching a velocity of 72 mph across the infield. Tall stance, load looks natural, with natural tools, shows pop to both fields. On plane early bat speed. On the mound he throws using regular, but not a whole lot of effort. Lands slightly more closed at foot strike and finishes with his momentum carrying back toward home plate. Throws with average arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown between 74-78 mph. Curveball has mostly gradual break to it at an 11/5 plane between 61-64 mph. Slider has tighter break than curveball with sinking action at 68-69 mph.

Infield Velocity: 72
Exit Velocity: 87
