6-foot-0, 180 pound catcher with a tall athletic frame.  Behind the plate he features a quick exchange, and good receiving skills.  Showed an above average arm, and topped out at 76 mph behind the plate.  Registered pop times between 2.13 and 2.20.  At the plate, the right handed hitter starts with a tall straight on stance and uses a short stride.  Tends to drop hands during load.  Shows good extension through contact.  Ability to drive the gaps.  Registered a top exit velocity of 77 mph off the tee.

6-foot, 170-pound catcher with athletic frame. Uses short arm action. Shows some quickness in his transfer and footwork. Reached a top velocity of 78 mph out of the crouch. Pop times ranged between 2.02 to 2.03. At the plate, he uses a tall setup. Tends to gain ground with his back foot in his swing. Needs to improve load and maintain balance. Takes slight uphill path to the ball. Registered top exit velocity of 82 mph.

Matthaes is a 6-foot, 170-pound catcher with an athletic build.  He shows good arm strength from the crouch at 79 mph with pop times of 1.99-2.12.  He shows a good glove to hand transfer and has room to improve pop times with quicker release.   He showed good athleticism behind the plate in bullpen sessions with solid receiving skills and good lateral blocking ability.  At the plate, he uses a balanced, athletic set-up with a big load and long stride.  He uses good lower half torque in his swing that generates good bat speed and barrel whip through the zone.
