Nate Kress: RHP/1B, (2023) Bowling Green, OH. 6-foot-2, 170-pound. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 89 mph. (68.94 mph bat speed average). (21.00 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then uses a controlled small leg kick. Bat speed was quick flashed, showed an upward simple swing plane and high finish. Solid in the infield, his best throw was registered at 82 mph; has a clean exchange, sure hands, and consistent feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.21. Solid on the mound, showing quick arm speed he had a loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Tall balance point with downhill shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 83-87 mph; showed slight running action with heavy hard movement. (Max spin 2236; Avg 2186). Throws a 11/5 curveball (76-77) that has gradual action. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Nate Kress: RHP/3B, (2023) Bowling Green, OH. 6-foot-2, 170-pound. Solid at the plate, Kress recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. Started in a balanced tall stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap. Bat speed is efficient and exhibits a level swing plane. Barreled up some balls throughout the round. Line drive approach. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 76 mph; had a natural exchange, choppy consistent footwork, and consistent hands. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.56. Projectable on the mound, showed good arm speed with a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Changeup (69-72 mph), slider (68-69 mph).Threw his fastball 79-83 mph. Throws a 11/5 curveball (69-71).
Scouting Notes: Projectable RHP in the 2023 class. 6-foot-1, 155-pound frame with a ton of room to add. Arm is long/loose through a high-3/4 slot and ball comes out well. Expect easy velo addition with physical maturation. Didn't show the breaking ball often but when he did it looked playable.
