Had efficient bat speed, level swing plane and balanced finish. Behind the plate, he made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 80 mph; shows a natural transfer, quick feet, and soft hands. displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.97-2.03 pop time. Some flexibility and quiet setup. Had a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.78.
Owen Smotek: C/OF, (2025) Nordonia, OH. 5-foot-10, 167-pound. During batting practice, Smotek's best exit velocity was 84 mph. (68.0 mph bat speed average). (19.9 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced active stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap stride. Bat speed was efficient, showed a simple flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Behind the plate, his best recorded throw to second was clocked at 72 mph; had soft hands, a clean transfer, and consistent footwork. he produced a pop time of 2.06-2.11. Quiet setup with some flexibility. Showed a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.11.
