Peter Jelenic: SS/2B, (2021) Wadsworth, OH. Oakland Commit, 5-foot-10, 173-pound. At the plate, Jelenic clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap. Bat speed is quick, displays an upward swing plane and a back foot finish. Solid in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 91 mph; had a clean exchange, soft hands, and athletic footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.94.
2/09/20
2/9/20 Position Player Hit: Starts out in a balanced setup. Simple, two part loading sequence with a toe tap to help with timing. Level bat path through the zone creating natural lift. Power: Gap to gap with the ability to hit to all fields. Offensive Projection: Top of the lineup. Top Rapsodo BP Exit Velocity: 86 mph. Top Rapsodo BP Distance: 293 ft. Field: Well above average glove skills. Footwork is very impressive. Moves through the ball very well generating positive momentum. Looks the part up the middle. Throw: Average arm. Probably enough arm to keep him at short. Defensive Projection: Middle infield.
6/18/19
Body Type: Athletic frame. Swing Mechanics: Smooth movement patterns that work well together. Hit: Compact, level stroke with impressive barrel accuracy. All fields hitter that has quick hands with more pop than frame suggests. Power: Line drive stroke. Offensive Projection: Ideal top of the lineup bat. Field: Really impressed with the glove. Made play after play defensively. Very athletic on the move with advanced ball skills. True middle skill set. Throw: Enough arm to play on either side. Defensive Projection: Middle Infield. Additional Comments: Talented player whose stock will continue to rise as he adds strength. One of the better defensive infielders in his class.
2/03/19
Body Type: 5-foot-10 153-pound prospect. Swing Mechanics: Starts in a wide setup with an open stance. Uses a toe tap load and a slight hover. Barrel stays through the zone well with an on plane bat path. Hit: Good barrel control and bat to ball ability. Power: 81 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Presently limited projection. How he develops physically will be the most important aspect of his long term success. Potentially could be a gap to gap threat. Field: In the infield he showed smooth actions and a quick arm. He took good angles to the ball. Showed soft hands and a good athleticism to his movements. Throw: 75 mph across the diamond. Run: 7.43 60 yard dash. Defensive Projection: Shows good actions and instincts as a defender. Present raw arm strength would limit him to 2B at the next level but otherwise shows potential to stick in the middle of the diamond at either SS or 2B.
1/21/18
A well-rounded player who’s far from his ceiling physically. A line drive type hitter who has feel for the barrel to both gaps. Finds plane well, allowing him to use the whole field with natural ball flight. A line drive type now who should have more left in the tank as he adds strength. In the infield he has an above average tool set across the board. Footwork is clean and hands are soft. Showed the ability to make plays out of his funnel and throws on the move.
7/25/17
A left-handed hitter that starts in an athletic setup. Load is simple and fluid. Barrel launches from a vertical position, giving him natural whip through the zone. Lower half creates consistent timing. Top of the lineup bat with feel for the barrel. Showed the ability to use both sides of the field. Very solid defender in the infield. First step is quick and he moves light on his feet. Hands are soft and glove works. How arm develops will likely determine which side of the field he ends up on. On the mound, the right hander has a fluent rhythm to the plate. He throws from a ¾ slot with a longer arm angle. He stays closed through release and finishes in line with the plate. The fastball has developing command. The curveball sweeps in on a gradual 10-4 tilt.
A switch hitter at the plate. From the left side he starts in a taller, open setup. Looks fluid and athletic in the box. Path is level with impressive barrel whip. Swing is efficient and any added strength should translate to immediate juice. Showed feel for the barrel, consistently producing line drives. Bat plays anywhere in the lineup. In the infield he is very mechanically sound. Actions are athletic. First step has some bounce to it and he moves well laterally. Solid young defender. An athletic presence on the bump. Delivery is fluid requiring little effort. Arm actions is relatively clean while moving through a near high-3/4 slot. Arm speed is developing. Fastball stayed mostly true through the zone while sitting 66-69 mph. Also spun an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that showed gradual break. The pitch has potential and sat 56-60 mph.
