 LHP/OF, (2023) Wilmington City, OH. 6-foot-3, 175-pound. During batting practice, Nichols recorded an exit velocity of 95 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed was quick, used a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 80 mph; had a natural exchange, consistent footwork, and sure hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a time of 7.55 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle with consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Sat with his fastball at 75-79 mph. Has slight running action. (Max spin 1754; Avg 1584). His changeup (72-73) had slight fading action. Shows tight action on his 2/8 slider (64-66). (Max spin 1757; Avg 1635). 

Samual Nichols: 1B/OF, (2023) Wilmington City Schools, OH. 6-foot, 155-pound solid frame. In the box, Nichols best exit velocity was 81 mph. Begins in a wide stance with a tight controlled load, then uses a big leg kick. Had average bat speed and a level swing plane. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 72 mph; has soft hands, a developing exchange, and consistent developing feet. Solid in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 78 mph; has soft hands, a clean exchange, and developing feet. Laterally, movements were average and fielded the ball one hand. On the mound, used a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle while showing good arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows some effort. Has a strong balance point. Sat with his fastball at 72-75 mph; showed arm side command and running action. Showed a 1/7 curveball (64-67) with gradual action. Shows arm side command and fading action on his changeup (67-68). 

2/16/20 Position Player
Hit: Aggressive swinger form the left side. Goes with a knee pinch timing trigger as hands flow to a strong launch position. Path was mostly level with loft at times. Natural tools are developing. Generated ground ball to low line drive flight in BP for the most part.
Power: Top batting practice exit velocity was 67.9 and he reached a top batting practice distance of 128 feet.
Offensive Projection: TBD, young hitter with much more physical maturation to come.
Field: Uses good tempo in his approach in the outfield, plays low too and through, ball skills appear to be on par for class.
Throw: Tossed it to home plate with 73 mph arm strength
Defensive Projection: Corner outfield.
