A 5-foot-10, 175-pound strong, muscular build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull, flat approach, strength and quickness in his hands. A slightly wide, balanced, athletic set-up with some rhythm in the hands, short stride, efficient path to contact, high finish.  Hughes had easily one of the best rounds of the day, barreling almost every ball, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.16 60. Defensively, advanced footwork, hands, and angles to the ball. Throws from an over the top slot, 73 mph, very accurate. Though hit-less on the day, Hughes put together some very competitive at bats walking three times, taking an HBP, and stealing three bases. Also, turned a double play.
