Committed to Oklahoma State out of Northwest Florida State

Transferred to Northwest Florida State JC from Kentucky.

7-28-16

Oklahoma recruit. 5-foot-10, 180-pound middle infielder, physically advanced frame with defined lower half. High-level athlete, ran a 6.69 60, fourth-fastest at the event. Offensively, a polished switch-hitter with a middle-opposite field approach. Hits from a balanced base, slight squat, moderate leg kick, hanging longer from the right side. Strength in hands, short and compact to the ball, though slightly more consistent from the right side during BP. Went 0-for-2 in game play. At shortstop, Polcovich showed excellent range and an above-average arm.

10/20/2016
A 5-foot-10, 180-pound, strong build with athleticism, which shows in his ability to run (4.35 home-to-first), has bat speed (95 exit velo). Offensively, an aggressive swinger in the box who doesn’t get cheated. Polcovich posses a short, connected swing from both sides that will definitely play at the next level, though he did not have his best offensive production in Jupiter. Defensively, he may project best as a very athletic and offensive second baseman.

2020 DRAFT: After beginning his college career at Kentucky for just one semester (Fall 2017), Polcovich headed to Northwest Florida State College where he played for three semesters. Now at Okie State, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound strong bodied switch-hitter sticks out for his ability to play the game. In what so far is a brief career as a Cowboy, Polcovich led the team this spring with a .494 OBP, while slugging .578 and adding eight stolen bases in nine attempts. He consistently runs in the 4.30 range from the right side. His right-handed swing is more natural with more quickness. From the left side he shows more length and bat strength to his swing rather than bat speed. His plate discipline (19 BBs vs. 10 SO in 78 plate appearances) from both sides is very good, as he's able to lay off elevated fastballs and off speed out of the zone. Defensively, he is sure-handed and versatile with an average arm. He committed just one error in 41 games while playing a multitude of positions, including center field and shortstop in the Cape last summer and followed that up with perfection in 49 chances this spring. Due to his mature body type and average toolset, Polcovich isn't a sexy top round draft pick, but he is a ball player who makes good teams better and is a likely gut feel pick around the fifth round for an astute area scout.

8/1/19: After beginning his college career at the University of Kentucky for just one semester (Fall ‘17), Polcovich headed to Northwest Florida State CC where he played the past three semesters. He went undrafted this past June and is currently a free agent. With limited projection the 5-foot-10, 195 pound stocky bodied switch-hitter sticks out for his ability to play the game. He led the Anglers in many offensive categories, including batting average (.303), home runs (4), and RBI (28) during the regular season. From the left side he showed more length and bat strength to his swing rather than bat speed. His right-handed swing was more natural with more quickness. His plate discipline from both sides was above average, laying off elevated fastballs and off speed out of the zone. Ran a 4.28 to first base on a ground out to third from the right side. Defensively, he made only one error in 41 games while playing a multitude of position, including center field and shortstop. Showed an average arm with sure hands on the dirt. Due to his mature body type and marginal to average toolset, Polcovich isn’t a high round draft pick, but he is a ball player who makes good teams better. (Seifert)

10/31/18: Oklahoma State commit. 5-foot-10, 195-pound left-handed hitting second baseman, strong, durable frame, thick lower half. Gap-to-gap approach offensively with pull-side power, as evidence by a solo home run over the right field wall in his final at-bat of the day.
