Arm action has some length in the back before changing directions quickly and coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball shows occasional arm-side run with good feel for the zone at 80-83 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with some depth and rolling action, 66-68 mph. Changeup has some fade, slows arm speed some, 69-71 mph. Knuckleball ranges 63-68 mph. Overall, Mcelyea will be an interesting prospect to follow due to his advanced frame and arm speed.

In BP, shows a flat and middle to opposite field approach with some lift, found some barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.88 60. Defensively, charges the ball well on turf and shows clean hands. Throws from a ¾ slot with excellent accuracy, 79 mph.
