2.19.18
Murdy, a strong left-handed hitting catcher has improved over the winter and the numbers are there to show it as they all went up across the board. The pop time made the biggest jump as he was 1.99 - 2.06 on the day while the velo out the crouch was 76 mph. He does at times push the ball and he can loosen up and look to create more whip in his arm as he develops. His throws were accurate and stayed online showing control with his body. At the plate, Murdy starts with  a wide stance and uses a small leg kick while he loads up on back side, there is bat speed through the zone with more power to be untapped. The path is level and with his present strength, you can see him looking to drive more balls in the air and create backspin. An uncommitted senior, still room for Murdy to grow as a player and is a sleeper that schools need to stay on as he will continue to develop and could flourish once he gets into a college setting.
4.2.17
Country strong, 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-handed hitting catcher. Feet moved well behind the plate with best pop time of 2.19, arm can get low and underneath at times, there is strength there and the ability to move up slot and get more carry on ball should play big factor in his throws, was online with body and ball, chance to make changes with small corrections. At the plate, starts upright, swing can get steep at times and cut his finish off. Room to open up front side and generate more from his strength should allow and free himself up for more rotation in the hips. No red flags with some adjustments to make, Murdy could take a jump with some extra reps.
