Right-hander listed at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, with room to add more mass to frame. Throws from a ¾ arm slot, with clean arm action and lots of life in his arm. Laforest is an athletic, hard-throwing righty, who topped out at 85mph on his fastball and sat mid 80's for his entire pen. Fastball had some movement and was thrown for strikes. Laforest works with a slow tempo on the mound, but has a good feel for his changeup that demonstrates some nice fading action. Good velocity difference on his changeup that sat around 74-77 mph. He demonstrates a tight spin on his curveball, which breaks late and has a 12/6 shape. A pitcher who has a live arm, can control all of his pitches, and will be a prospect to follow as he continues to develop.
4/10/16
Young 2018 grad with room to grow and add size to his 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame. The right-hander works using a slow tempo on the mound from high-3/4 arm slot, the arm is clean and smooth in back with whip and quickness. Fastball tops out at 83 mph, worked in the strike zone with all three pitches for duration of bullpen. Overhand curveball had depth, proper rotation at 69 mph, showed 12/6 shape when outfront and finished through arm action. Changeup with fade action when he maintained arm speed, was 72-73 mph. Athletic movements with arm speed, more to come from Laforest as he matures physically.
