3/9/19: Proportionally built with a strong, muscular frame at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds. Above average athlete who moves with ease behind the dish. Strong glove hand capable of handling professional velocity. Keeps strikes in the zone. Mechanically sound when blocking/recovering. Gets out of crouch quickly on throws down to 2b. Flashed above average arm strength between innings. Pop times between 1.85 – 1.95. No opportunities in-game on this particular look. Starts slightly open in the box from the left-side. Hands rest tight to his back shoulder. Minimal lift on his stride foot, uses more of a hover as he gets into forward move. Subtle load with hands. Consistently gets into strong hitting position. Remains balanced with a quiet head throughout. Swing has easy bat speed. Barrel gets on plane early, allows him to generate hard contact to all parts of the field. Lifts ball to his pull-side with ease. High finish after contact. Nearly identical set-up from the right-side. Still capable of hitting for power but it doesn't seem to come as easy compared to when he hits LH. Finish doesn't have the same lift after contact. Consistent approach with advanced pitch recognition skills. Showed occasional tendency to chase FB's out of the zone, especially with 2 strikes. Flashed a 4.40 down the line from the right side. Grades out better as a runner underway. (Jurik)

3/14/18 6’2/216. S/R. Sophomore. No. 14 on our 2019 College Top 100. Broad-shouldered and long-limbed with natural strength throughout the frame with room to add and mature. Natural right-handed hitter who batted only left-handed in batting practice and games. Relaxed, balanced approach setting up with weight on the back side in a minor crouch with front foot open. Short separation as the hands load down and back with a minor bat wrap before the barrel works flat through the zone with a high, loose finish. Hands push some at times, but shows the ability to drive the ball to the opposite gap. Showcased some pull side power in batting practice, but was even more impressive in game. Blasted a deep home run towering over the right field bleachers on friday night. Consistently in control with quick hands and strength through the zone, showed the ability to adjust behind in counts, and the ball came off his bat at a noticeably higher speed as the barrel lagged in the zone when hitting balls up the middle. Behind the plate exhibits loose hips with soft, strong hands. Most impressive was his ability to quietly stick the low strike from firm, heavy fastballs even when they were not thrown to the right spot. The left-handed swing has taken an impressive stride forward, and could elevate Rutschman into one of the premier prospects in the 2019 draft. (Shooter Hunt)

7-11-2018: Listed on the roster, but not with the CNT at this point due to playing in the College World Series finals. From a look this past spring, Rutschman is a highly athletic backstop with natural strength throughout his frame. He possesses high end tools which transfer to the game. Plus arm strength and top end defensive abilities to go along with big power from the right side of the plate and a feel to hit from both sides. At this point, he is regarded throughout the industry as a potential top ten, if not the No. 1 overall, pick for the 2019 draft. (Seifert)
