A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Slider
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Slider
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: 6-foot-0, 155 pounds; Proportional, build. 8.01 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; flat bat to start. Short take back with the hands with an exaggerated leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a long swing path with a two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 83 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while sitting back. Hands are out in front with a seamless transfer. Long arm swing from a high 3/4 arm slot. OF - 78 MPH. Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while showing some scap load; high 3/4 slot. Upright with finish. FB: Peak velo of 79 MPH, while sitting 77-79 MPH. SL: 67-68 MPH. CH: 69-70 MPH.
7/20/21
Physical: Lengthy, athletic 6-foot, 145lb frame with lots of projection left. 7.58 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Narrow, tall stance as the hands started slotted by the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift to initiate the swing through a leveraged, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Was able to extend consistently at impact, lifting towards the finish with some loft in the approach (68% fly ball rate via Trackman). Handled pitches over the middle of the plate while manipulating contact points at the front of the plate, notching a near 320 foot batted ball distance at his peak (doubles power). Recorded a T83 mph bat-exit velocity with more available as he continues adding strength; good sequencing and posture available at the plate.
Defensively: The outfielder showed good reads off the bat and let the glove hand operate loosely off the left side of his body. Stayed lower to the ground, setting up on time and released accurately to the plate from a H ¾ slot (79 mph arm, corner OF projection).
Pitching: RHP - Started sideways, finding a higher, tempoed stack position and then drove down the slope with arm talent and separation at H ¾ slot. Repeated well and landed the FB from 79-80 mph at T2200rpms with some jump out of the hand (carry). Mixed a lateral 67-69 mph SL with consistent shape across the plate and commanded a short fading 68-70 mph CH as a solid third offering.
2/27/21
Physical: 5’11 145 lb IF/OF ran a 7/91 laser timed 60-yard dash. Thin frame has room to fill out and gain strength. Has solid movements to build off of going forward.
Offensively: Starts in a simple position with pre loaded hands. Has a slight glide forward into the pitch before firing the barrel into the hitting zone. Hands work straight to the ball and finish moving up through the swing.
Defensively: Showed good actions in the IF and had a simple footwork. Showed solid athleticism moving in all directions. Could use to be a little bit more active with his feet which will help him stick in the middle of the field moving forward.
