3/29/16 Strong, athletic build with loose, quick arm. Lands a bit open, which at times leads to working around his front side and a lowered elbow slot. Would benefit from getting collected over the rubber more. Fastball sat 85-87 in the first inning and settled at 82-85 in the second. The pitch has life and late cut or run, depending on variations in his release point, and generated a number of swings-and-misses. Flashed a solid low-70s slider with biting three-quarter break, some feel for an upper-60s curveball, and a rare firm change-up. Was competitive in the strike zone early on, while command got more spotty as he fatigued. Still struck out nine in 4.1 innings. There is more in his arm and we look forward to seeing him again as he rounds into mid-season form.
