4/6/16 Pitching in short sleeves on a windy, low-50s day, featured a lively FB at 89-92 in the first, typically with some cut action on the gloveside due to spinning off and bit of an upright finish. Pitch had some run the other direction when thrown to the armside. Mostly 87-90 in the stretch with less life and more sink in the 2nd before settling at 86-87 with an occasional 88 or 89 the rest of the way. Appeared to get over his front side better and have better command out of the stretch, as four of his six free passes came out of the wind-up. Pretty much shelved his money pitch, a heavy, sinking upper-70s change-up, as it typically just sped up the bats of opposing hitters on this day. Slurvy breaking ball with three-quarter action and some depth checked in at 73-76.

1/18/16 In an early pre-season bullpen session, touched 90 with his fastball and showed very good feel for his upper-70s change-up.

6/18/14 Hammer used an overhead rocker delivery and a long, loose arm action to sit 85-87 with late life to his fastball. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound righty commanded a 72 mph curveball with 11/5 break and a 76 mph changeup with excellent arm speed. Hammer ran a 7.01 60-yard dash and displayed athleticism with the ability to make plays at shortstop. Hammer's 86 mph across the diamond was one of the top infield arms at the event. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-6 in game action and registered a bat exit velocity of 84 mph.

8-1-2018: Strong armed righty with an aggressive delivery. Drop-n-drive lower half. Head tilt with a near over-the-top slot produced some down plane. Near full physical maturity with a six-foot-two, 200 pound frame. During a regular season look, fastball sat 90-91 mph with little wiggle. Played less than the velo. Also threw a below average slider at 80-81 mph and a firm 82 mph changeup thrown with good arm speed. In his All-Star game appearance, fastball ranged from 92-93 mph with a 2200-2400 rpm spin rate. Slider 83 mph at 2400 rpm and changeup 83 mph at 2100-2300 rpm. Profiles as reliever at the next level. (Jurik)
