6/25/14 Smith had a solid two days in all aspects of the game. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound left-handed hitter has a looseness to his swing that allows him to work through the baseball and use all fields equally well. Smith went 3-for-7 in game play while barreling several other baseball with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. The junior is a sound receiver and registered pop times of 2.00-2.09 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch.
2/16/14 Smith displayed quick feet and an accurate arm with pop times of 2.09-2.16 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed hitter showcased a flat bat path and looseness in his swing that allowed him to barrel the baseball consistently to all fields. Smith showcased a 78 mph bat exit velocity from a square stance with a toe tap trigger.
1/20/14 Despite a hitch that creates some length, Smith exhibited a fairly smooth stroke with some bat speed and the ball came off his bat well when he stayed through contact. The left-handed hitter's hands worked well allowing him to consistently barrel the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder posted pop times of 2.00-2.13 on throws of 70 mph out of the crouch, even though his over-the-top slot and upright throwing stance limited his carry.
7/30/13 Smith went 1-for-2 with a double on day one of game play. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect showcased pop times of 2.09-2.25 on throws of 69 mph out of the crouch. The left-handed hitter hits from a square stance and utilizes a flat bat path to create an exit velocity of 76 mph.
1/13/13 Smith ran a 7.83 60-yard dash and showed sound receiving and blocking skills behind the plate. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound prospect showcased pop times of 2.37-2.44 on throws of 68 mph out of the crouch. The left handed hitter used a 71 mph bat exit speed to square the baseball regularly during his round of batting practice. Smith showed an aggressive approach and stayed behind the baseball to allow his hands to work.
1/26/13 Smith showed very solid pop times for a freshman at 2.18-2.22 on throws of 66 mph. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitter has good rhythm to his swing and he clears the hips well allowing his hands to work. Smith showcased a bat exit velocity of 72 mph and shows the potential to be a quality hitter.
