7/20/14 Barron is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound uncommitted senior that showcased a well-rounded skill set with the ability to play nearly every defensive position. Barron turned in a 7.15 60-yard dash and made a running catch in left field during game play that ended with him crashing into the outfield wall for the out. The versatile defender displayed an 80 mph arm across the diamond from 3B and capable glove work at 1B as well. Barron hits from an open stance and creates significant barrel whip with power to both gaps. The right-handed hitter registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity and went 3-for-9 in game action including a drive off the left field wall. The righty also sat 79-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound with some arm side run to his fastball and changeup.
6/18/14 Barron is an athlete that has demonstrated the ability to play multiple defensive positions at a high level. He shows good feet (7.18 60-yard dash) for a prospect his size, 6-foot-4, 195-pounds. His 81 mph arm across the diamond and glove work at both corner positions make him a versatile recruit. Barron has also demonstrated the ability to play both corner outfield positions and he sat 81-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot during two innings of work on the mound. The physical righty also commanded a 67 mph curveball with 11/5 breaking action. Barron hits from an open stance and incorporates a strong lower half to create an 88 mph bat exit velocity.
5/5/14 Barron is an XL-frame right-handed hitter with legit power potential. Hit towering home run to left field in final at-bat. Drove deep opposite field flyout that carried through a cross wind in first at-bat. Ran 4.56 home-to-1B on infield single. First time seeing defensively at 3B. Still probably ticketed for 1B or OF corner, but actions and arm were solid in pre-game.
8/25/13 While Barron's primary position is 1B, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect showed that he is more than capable of playing a corner outfield position at the next level. Barron showcased athletic actions and an 85 mph arm from the outfield. The right-handed hitter showcased power potential out of a slightly open stance with solid extension to his swing during batting practice. Barron uses an explosive lower half to create barrel whip and a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. He went 2-for-8 at the plate in game action, including a two-run home run at Temple University. The member of Team PA at the 2013 Midwest Future Games showed agility and a 76 mph arm across the diamond from 1B.
8/3/13 Barron has a projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. The right-handed hitter has shown some power potential and a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Barron displayed some of that potential in an impressive round of batting practice. Barron began a 5th inning rally and scored the eventual game winning run in a 6-4 win over Team Illinois.
7/30/13 Barron showcased legitimate power potential out of a slightly open stance with solid extension to his swing. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed hitter showcased an 88 mph bat exit velocity and went 3-for-6 with a double in game action during the course of the two day event. Barron also displayed solid footwork and a soft glove hand at 1B with throws of 81 mph across the diamond.
6/19/13 Barron showed agility and soft hands around the bag at 1B with throws of 78 mph across the diamond. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect has a projectable body and ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Barron really stood out at the plate, turning in the top round of batting practice at the event. The right-handed hitter utilizes a high hands load and a slightly open stance to create a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Barron showcased good bat speed and barreled the baseball repeatedly displaying some gap power.
