5-10, 150 pound, medium/athletic build with plenty of frame potential. Offensively, displays a simple, fluid approach. Solid load to stride separation with limited head movement. Line-drive approach, with above average bat speed. Will need to stay in his legs better to produce more power in his swing. Projects to be a top of the order hitter, with power potential in the future. Defensively, looks mature at the catching position with his frame and setup. His athleticism leads to above average pop time and very good hand transfer. Performs good carry on his throws and releases at a solid arm slot.
7/24/18 - Home-1st: 4.72, Position Velocity: C-69, Exit Velocity: 71 5-foot-8, 145-pound, RHH picked up a couple hits in game. Short, athletic frame w/ lean strength throughout. Lot of physical projection, young frame. Offensively, hits w/ an open, slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into shift of weight, toe tap to slightly open and load. Arm bar creates some stiffness through the zone. Pull oriented approach w/ lot of line drives when right. Knack for contact despite stiffness, 1 swing and miss on 7 swings. Has an idea of his strike zone. Singles type hitter at this stage, projectable gap power as frame matures. Defensively, presents solid low target, w/ somewhat open glove. Getting used to receiving velocity, working on framing the baseball vs. catching the baseball, occasional stab. Athletic behind the plate, moves well w/ mobility and want to box the baseball. Got worked hard throughout the day, but continued to give full effort to move behind the plate. Tools to be an above average receiver w/ reps. As a thrower, shows good footwork w/ solid release and developing arm strength.
