7/31/19

60: 6.73 OF Velo: 84 Exit Velo: 93

The 5-foot-10, 163-pound lefty outfielder displayed a variety of promising tools that project to the next level.  During the showcase, Jones posted Team Tennessee’s top 60 time plus a top four finish in exit velo.  Hitting in an athletic, balanced stance w/ simple load and great bat speed.  Jones impressed during BP w/ easy gap-to-gap power and balls jumping off the barrel.  Went 1 for 7 (2B) w/ 2 quality at bats in 7 plate appearances.  Jones also added a run and an RBI in game three. Played all three outfields positions w/ great range and first jump.  Profile projects as true CF w/ smooth left-handed swing and premium speed.

6/11/19

60: 6.69 OF Velo: 78 Exit Velo: 83

5 foot 10, 163-pound LHH. Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength.  Good projectability, continues to add mass to frame.  Offensively, hits with straight up, slightly crouched stance w/ small leg kick load and proper hand load.  Quick short swing w/ bat path that stays on plane/in the zone for a long time.  Line drive power to all fields w/ developing gap-to-gap power.  Offensive approach pairs well with plus run tool to stretch extra bases and disruption on base paths.  Defensively, speed plays in CF w/ good, accurate arm with clean stroke.

Max FB: 79 FB: 76-78 CB: 67-69 CH: 68-70

5 foot 10, 160-pound LHP showed a slight velocity dip from February. Medium, athletic frame w/ well proportioned strength. Projectability is high due to his athletic build and body movements. Pitches from a ¾ arm slot on the 3rdbase side of the rubber. Delivery is rather easy with a short arm action. FB has some short arm-side run. CB showed 10/4 action and was thrown with similar arm speed.  CH w/ short fade. Athleticism allows repeatable deliver and strikes.

2/3/19 - 60: 6.53, OF Velo: 83, Exit Velo: 86

5-10, 155-pound OF continues to show off his immense raw tools and the progress he has made, improving in every measurable from last fall.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, super projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into a toe tap and proper load.  Whippy bat speed, gets it through the zone with authority.  Swing really works, barrel stays in the zone for a long time, occasional loft on his finish.  LD’s to all fields at his best.  Projectable pull power, may have just enough power to get him in trouble, will be at his best hitting line drives gap to gap and letting his plus run tool (6.53 and 6.81, 6.66 last fall) play and leg out extra bases.  As a defender, shows premium speed to pair with projectable carry through target arm strength in an easy arm stroke.

2/3/19 - Max FB: 81, FB (79-81), CB (67), CH (73-75)

5-10, 160-pound lefty shows intriguing present FB velocity, but likely profiles best as a position player thanks to advanced athleticism.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, super projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ release from the third base side of the rubber.  Throws slightly across his body, some deception and hiding the baseball.  Quick arm.  FB shows short arm-side run.  CB flashes with tight medium downer, occasional short slurve.  CH w/ short fade.  Thrower on this day, athleticism to be a consistent strike thrower, repeat his delivery.

10/21/18 - 6.66 60, OF: 76, Exit Velo: 82

5-9, 155-pounder ran the fastest 60 time of the event and it wasn’t particularly close and paired that with intriguing bat speed.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ a very slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into stride to square w/ very short occasional hand load.  Hands start in a very deep position, occasionally creates issues getting through the zone.  Generates bat speed through the zone, flashes above average.  Gets long at times.  Projectable pull power.  Intriguing starter kit for an offensive player.  Plus runner underway w/ some effort, gets to top speed quickly.  Defensively, athletic w/ projectable arm strength, intriguing CF profile.
