5’9, 165-pound righty showed a big velocity jump since we saw him in January, going from 78-81 to a consistent 82-84, touching 85. Short, athletic frame w/ some well-proportioned lean strength, some physical projection. Pitches from a full wind-up into an over the top release. Long arm action, controls his lower half well to allow his arm to catch-up. Consistently on time on this day. Quick arm w/ some whip. Straight FB shows occasional short cut. Tight medium downer CB w/ occasional late bite. Straight CH w/ arm-speed. Pounded the zone, 12 of 17 for strikes while throwing 5 of 6 CB’s for strikes. Projects to command. Generated 2 swing and misses on 8 swings.
5-foot-9, 165-pound solid frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. Setup was comprised of balanced stance and a short stride. Displayed an uphill swing plane, as well as quick bat speed and high finish. Base hit approach. From the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 84 mph; has sure hands and quick footwork. He clocked a time of 7.52 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, showing quick arm speed used an over-the-top angle and a long arm action. Has a tall balance point and even shoulders. Lands square. Changeup (71-73 mph) was most efficient when pitched in sequence with his fastball. Produced a fastball that came in at 78-81 mph with a max of 81 mph; had consistent accuracy. Has command low in the zone on his tight curveball (66-69).
