6/15/16 - 60 Time: 8.02, Position Velocity:  IF-76, Exit Velocity: 82
6'1, 170-pound, RHH hits from a more balanced stance and uses a fluid weight shift, slight leg kick, and a longer stride to get moving, hands go back with his body and stay there when his body goes forward to begin the swing. Lower half allowed for his backside to work but led to a pretty steep bat path through the zone, really steep on balls lower in the zone, hips didn’t always get all the way through, fly balls to RF, line drives up the middle, and ground balls to LF, tallied 3 hits and a stolen base in game play.  Defensively, sits back on the ball and doesn’t play through it very smoothly, did show solid hands and footwork put him in position to make the plays, showed a little quicker exchange than at past events and a long arm action that resulted in a release from a high ¾ arm angle, accuracy and arm strength can continue improving.

6/15/16 - Max FB: 79, FB: 77-79, CB: 66-69,
6'1, 170-pound, RHP seemed to work with some better tempo than we have seen in the past but has kept his mechanics pretty much intact, strides a little across his body and finishes with a spin on and around his front leg, showed a longer arm action than we’ve seen from him but maintained his high ¾ slot, uses athleticism on the mound.  Fastball showed the same velo and life low in the zone as past events, breaking ball floated through the zone and wasn’t as sharp as we know it has the capability of being.

1/31/16 - Max FB: 78, FB: 77-78, CB: 67-69, CH: 69-71,
6-foot-1, 168-pound RHP uses a fairly long motion and a shorter arm action through a high-3/4 to over the top arm slot with regular effort in delivery, arm shows relative quickness, fastball comes in on downward plane and throws it for consistent strikes, showed good feel for curveball that showed better depth from previous events with mostly 11/5 action, settled in to throw a solid changeup especially from the stretch, will likely continue to see velocity gains.
Home-1st: 5.27, Position Velocity:  IF-75, Exit Velocity: 78
As a position player, showed a more athletic stance than previously, loads back with a slight leg kick and short stride to get him going, showed his best exit velocity to date, bat path is relatively flat, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach. Defensively, showed adequate hands and some ability to work through the baseball, a long high-3/4 release produced accurate throws and similar velocity to his last event. Stalcup’s current best tool is his bat. He will need to continue to improve foot speed and arm strength for the SS position.
1/18/16 - 6-foot-1, 168-pound righty uses a fairly long motion and a shorter arm action through an over the top arm slot, arm shows relative quickness, can get jerky toward the end of his motion that causes some inconsistencies but also a solid downward angle at the hitter. Fastball stayed between 76-78 mph but remained straight, showed a curveball with 10/4 movement at 66-69 and a changeup between 68-71.  Don’t be surprised to see Stalcup get into the lower 80s this spring/summer. As a position player, hits from an upright stance and uses a fluid weight shift, load, and slight leg kick to get moving and displayed a fairly level bat path through the zone, could get a lot more use out of his lower half which would help him tremendously to add a little pop to his 72 mph exit velocity off the tee.  Defensively, could improve hands and footwork by being a little more confident in working through the ball, has a slower exchange and long arm action that result in an accurate 75 mph velocity across the infield from a high-3/4 arm action, ran an 8.22 60-yard dash.
10/25/15 - The 5 foot 11, 160-pound prospect posted an 8.22 60 time and had a 73 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Stalcup shows short arm action, accuracy on throws, average arm strength, average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, natural instincts and fields his position athletically. Stalcup has roomto be more aggressive and work on staying down through the ball. Offensively, Stalcup has average bat speed from the right side and had a 75 mph exit velocity off the tee. Stalcup hits from a balanced setup with a slight leg kick involved, gets some use of his lower half, shows good overall balance, short path, fluid rhythm, and is a line drive type hitter but likes to take the ball to opposite field as well. He went 1 for 3 during game play.
On the mound, the 5-foot-11, 160-pound RHP uses shorter arm action through a high-3/4 slot, arm shows some quickness, above average velocity for age, throws across body at times, fastball sat at 77-78 mph touching 80 with some arm side run . He also showed a curveball with sweeping 10/4 action at 64-66 mph. Stalcup projects to add additional velocity. He gave up one hit and had three strikeouts in two innings pitched during game play showing the ability to throw strikes with the fastball/curveball mix.
