10.28.17 Vine is an athletic two-way player with a 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. The right-handed hitter showed excellent pop and strength at contact during batting practice with an exit velocity of 90 mph off the tee. He starts from a balanced, square stance, loads with a simple toe tap into a short stride as his hands trigger back and down. Maintains balance as he uses a strong lower half to rotate to contact. Quick hands through the zone on a flat path with easy, simple strength at contact. Covers the zone well, showing the ability to drop the head on the low pitch, and still get to pitch up and in. Laced a double to right field during the game. Behind the plate, Vine has a whippy arm stroke from a high-¾ slot. At this event, he threw 78 mph from the crouch with pop times of 2.13-2.26. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher. He works from a high-¾ slot with a fast arm stroke and smooth delivery down the mound. Fastball jumps out of his hand at 83-85 mph, flashing arm side life. Was able to get swings-and-misses on as sharp 73-74 mph curveball with good depth and 11/5 shape.

4.27.17 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound, lean, muscular frame. The right-handed hitter was 1-for-2 with a walk in a first round playoff game on Thursday. He shows strength at contact with a quick bat for his class, and tends to hit off his front foot. The freshman smoked a couple of inside pitches foul, and show fast-twitch movements on the bases. Vine got on the bump in the last inning, working from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm stroke. His fastball jumped out of his hand at 83-85 mph, he only threw one slider, but the pitch showed tight rotation and 11-5 shape at 75 mph. Vine will be a fun prospect to watch this summer.
