USA CNT: Super deceptive lefty reliever with a well across body landing that creates a tough look and angle, especially against same-sided batters. His funky, start/stop/go delivery adds to the difficulty of squaring anything up from this unique look lefthander. From a sidearm slot his fastball reached 93 during the trials (reached 95 against Japan), sitting 91-92 with heavy sink and higher spin in the 2400 rpm range. Abeldt also mixed a frisbee slurve at 81-82 and killed spin (1400 rpm) on his low-80s change-of-pace. A bit of a unicorn as a low-90s lefty sidearmer, the draft hasn’t seen anything like him in my memory. He will likely slot somewhere in the middle of Day Two of next year’s draft and rise quickly out of the pen to the Major Leagues. Finished the CNT season with a 0.00 ERA in 4.1 innings with one walk and six strikeouts.

The Sr. LHP has been a favorite of mine for a long time.  When the TCU signee throws, it is effortless and looks like he is just playing catch. He throws from a ¾ slot and throws across his body as he strides behind the LHH.  It is a very uncomfortable ab, especially for the lefties.  He was 85-87 T88 in this scrimmage. We have seen him up to 92 in the past, so as it warms up and we get further into the season, I expect his velo to rise.  He threw two different breaking balls on Friday, a true curveball that he drops in for a strike.  Then he throws a slider that is his swing and miss pitch.  He also has a changeup that he throws to righties and has good command of.
