It isn’t very often that you have a HS catcher call their own game, but Castillo has done it for 2 years and done it well. He gets his pitchers in a good rhythm, keeps them aggressive, and is one of the few pitch callers in North Texas that leans heavily on the fastball. Nobody has maximized their pitching staff more the last two years than Coppell, and a big reason for that is Castillo. At the plate, he has mature ab’s and never tries to do too much. He didn’t have much to show on the night, but he had a couple barrels and rarely swings and misses.
