Beckel not only swung it well during the game with a couple of hard hit singles, but the 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander ran his fastball up to 87, pitching mostly 84-86. Threw a couple of curveballs with tight rotation and late bite at 73-74 for swings and misses. Flashed one changeup at 80 mph. Athletic player with upside.

Beckel, a lean 6-3 195-pound righty, had a strong overall night. The righty, who is ranked No. 129 in the state for his class, threw three innings on the mound, and through his first two innings was nearly untouchable, facing 6 hitters and fanning 5. His fastball sat 87-88 mph, showing late explosive life, and he showed a plus-curveball that had late bite and exceptional depth at 74-75 mph. He throws from a high ¾ slot, with a coiled upper body and a loose arm that extends well to add to the deception and perceived velocity of his pitches. Beckel’s third inning was rocky, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits as his fastball dropped to 83-84. He finished with 6 strikeouts on the night through 2.2 IP. Beckel also had a strong night at the plate, hitting two deep line drives to the left-center field wall for doubles.

Stands 6-foot-3, 190-pounds with a strong lower half and smooth delivery. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot a clean arm swing. He has coil in his hips and aggressive shoulders into acceleration. His fastball was mostly 87, dropping only a couple of times to 84, and 85, showing good ride through the glove and some run. Curveball has 11/5 shape at 72-74 and he can spin it for a strike. Pitch shows potential plus characteristics, and great depth when he stayed on top. Changeup was 77-79 mph, late fading and some sink. Highly projectable frame and arm.
