10.23.16
Arkansas commit. 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. Lean build with long limbs, wiry strong. The right-hander works from a ¾ slot with long arm action and a smooth, up-tempo delivery. Bonnin showed excellent command of both his fastball and slider only allowing one walk in 3 innings of work. His fastball exploded on hitters in the first inning 90-92 mph, eventually settling into the 89-91 mph range. His slider is a swing-and-miss pitch that has good tilt and late life at 80-82 mph.

2020 DRAFT: Bonnin is one of the more talented righthanders in college baseball, and he's one of those pitchers who likely will be better at the next level than he has been with the Red Raiders. A 6-foot-1, 190-pounder, Bonnin is an unfinished product who is still rather raw across the board. He tallied a 4.08 ERA in 64 innings last season, while also struggling with command at times with 45 walks. This season he had shown more swing and miss stuff with 27 strikeouts in 14.2 innings, along with better command. However, teams hit him at a rather high .297 clip. Bonnin has an athletic body and shows a lot of effort on the mound. He'll sit anywhere from 93-96 mph with his fastball and has touched higher than that on the radar gun at times. He showed a mid-80s power slider earlier this season, while he also showed a few mid-80s changeups and a true curveball in the 76-77 mph range. Bonnin's over seven ERA in 2020 is a little misleading. Look for him to blossom at the next level.

8/8/20186’1, 190 pounds. Lean, athletic frame. Long limbs with wide set shoulders. Twitchy athlete who showed the ability to vary the tempo of his delivery. Arm action gets long on his backside but shortens up as he gets to his high release. Finishes everything with intent/effort. FB ranged 92-94 mph, peaked at 95. Generates good angle/tilt on the offering considering he’s not overly tall. Erratic FB command on this particular outing. Front foot was landing hard and caused him to spike some pitches. SL suffered from the same inconsistencies as the FB but showed premium velocity at 85-87. Plus offering at its best. Comes out of hand with ease and shows vicious bite when he stays on top of it. Also flashed what appeared to be a split change-up. Came out firm at 87-88 but has depth with late fading action. Young, athletic pitcher with electric stuff. Will sit out the 2019 season after transferring from Arkansas to Texas Tech this summer. (D Jurik)
