Bernal has a stout, powerful frame that exudes physicality at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds. He is max effort in all of his actions. Behind the plate he has a quiet, relaxed set up, is aggressive with his footwork to gain momentum out of the crouch, and unleashes with the ball down to 2B. He has a big swing from the right side that displays his raw bat speed and pop off the barrel. 97 mph exit velocity. Bernal ran a 7.98 60-yard dash.

Bernal has an aggressive mentaility to got with strong tools that project well to the next level. The right-handed hitter posted an exit velocity of 97 mph with explosive bat speed. Starting from a tall stance, he uses a low-hanging leg kick to stride forward as he walks away from his hands, landing with good separation. Twitchy hands produce strength at contact with carry through the gaps. Behind the plate, he has an ultra-fast exchange and soft hands to go with a top velocity from the crouch of 75 mph and pop times of 1.9-2.09. Commanded the field during the game shows athletic footwork on blocks.

Athletic defender, Bernal has good awareness and presence behind the plate during bullpens. Soft hands with the ability to stick pitches and block with relative ease.
