1/11/23

Originally a Texas recruit out of high school, Boehm pitched last season at Blinn where he struck out 35 in 44 innings. The third-year sophomore right-hander has a physical presence at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and a fast arm that produces 93-95 mph fastballs with tail and sink. His slider at 79-81 mph has good spin with deception and late diving action. He pounds the strike zone with two quality pitches and stuff that misses barrels. Power sinker-slider-type guy.

Physical presence (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) with fast arm produces 93-95 mph FB with tail and sink. Slider, at 79-81 mph, has good spin with deception and late diving action. Power sinker-slider-type guy. Needs to develop change. Pounds the strike zone with two quality pitches and stuff that misses barrels.

Boehm has advanced strength with broad shoulders and a thick frame at 6-foot-3, 245-pound frame. At the South Texas Underclass Games in late July, Boehm put on a power display during batting practice. The right-handed hitter has a simple swing with balance and juice in his bat. After registering a 93 mph exit velocity off the tee, he launched towering home runs deep over the left-field wall with little effort. Boehm also scorched a single past the shortstop on a first pitch fastball in his first plate appearance of the day. At first base, Boehm shows the ability to play low with soft hands out and front and uses solid glove action to make picks at the bag. Average footwork around the bag, clean exchange into a long-¾ arm stroke at 80 mph across the diamond. On the mound, the right-hander has a long, loose, ¾ arm stroke with a slight cross-fire delivery. His fastball comes out of his hand clean and easy and sat mostly 83-85 mph. Showed good feel for spinning the baseball with his slider at 67-69 mph with short, late break and slurvey shape. He also throws a late sinking changeup with fastball arm speed at 79 mph. Look for big things in the future as Boehm, both on the mound and at the plate.

12.11.16 -
6-foot-2, 240-pound, strong, advanced frame with broad shoulders and well defined lower-half. The right-handed hitter starts from a tall stance with advanced rhythm. Smooth load and athletic leg-kick to get started, lands into an aggressive, advanced launch position to transfer through contact. Shows explosive bat speed with loose finish as the barrel stays through the zone. Hit several home runs during batting practice and registered an exit velocity of 93 mph. On the infield Boehm flashed soft hands and clean exchange into a strong throwing motion with carry at 75 mph.
On the mound, the right-hander works from a ¾ slot with quick arm stroke from back to front. Good hip mobility at leg lift into a short stride length that should lengthen out with future development. His fastball ranges from 81-82 mph and comes out of the hand well flashing arm-side run. The slider is a good pitch with 10-4 shape that flashes tight spin and depth at 68-70 mph. Shows the ability to maintain arm speed on his changeup which he throws 69-72 mph.

Boehm is a Texas recruit with an advanced frame at 6-foot-4, 240-pounds. A two-way prospect and right-handed hitter, Boehm has high-end bat speed (97 mph) and crushed balls to the pull side during batting practice, including launching two home runs to left field. Simple strength at the plate, smooth load, short stride, easy weight transfer, quick hands with natural lift creates leverage and power to the gaps with more to come. Showed great glove action with soft hands at first base during the position player workout where he picked numerous balls in the dirt. His arm works well from a ¾ slot, making accurate throws to third and second. Good overall feel for the position with good footwork around the bag. On the mound, the right-hander works from a ¾ slot with a quick arm back-to-front. His fastball sat 85-86 mph, he shows good feel for a 74-76 mph changeup, and his curveball has depth at 67-68 mph.
